Joseph O’Connell launched Atlantic Environmental Testing in 2025, honing years of experience in home and commercial restoration to focus exclusively on MA asbestos testing.
Prior to running Atlantic Environmental Testing, Joe owned and operated a franchise called Paul Davis Emergency Services of the South Shore for 15 years. During that time, he won the Paul Davis Exceptional Customer Service award four times, competing against 370 other national offices.
Services provided by PDES included:
- Water, fire, and smoke damage
- Wind and storm damage
- Mold remediation and removal
- Emergency securement services and tarping
- Trauma and biohazard
- Asbestos testing
- Household goods and textile cleaning
- Odor removal and air purification
- Residential and commercial property restoration
Joe sold the franchise in 2025 and rebranded his company as Atlantic Environmental Testing to focus exclusively on MA asbestos testing and consulting. His qualifications include the following:
- Asbestos testing license (required to do four hours of continuing education and pass a test annually)
- Asbestos consulting license (required by MA to hire inspectors)
- MA unrestricted construction supervisor license (the highest construction license other than an architect or engineer; must be renewed every two years with 12 hours of continuing education – six hours online and six in person)
- MA home improvement contractor license
Joe and his wife Mariann have two grown sons and live in Plymouth.
